Tanzania Encounter
March 16 – 31, 2012

Tanzania girls
Sponsored by Friends Across Borders, a program of Maryknoll Lay Missioners

See the PDF brochure for this trip here

They say that those who enter into mission fall into the dance of the living God. Indeed the rhythms of Africa are of dances. Maryknoll lay missioners in Tanzania will introduce us to this dance of life in the beautifully diverse Musoma and Mwanza. Tanzania is most known for the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar, for great beauty, picturesque scenery, and abundance of wildlife. We’ll experience some of that. But our missioners experience Tanzania along with its people, with whom we will walk in our experience there.

Sign up now – deadline is January 16, 2012. Group size is between 10-15 persons.

The visit will include
1. Visits with Maryknoll lay missioners at their ministries
2. Visits with our Tanzanian Maryknoll Affiliates and experiences of their important work.
3. Visits with Tanzanians in the context of the daily routines of their lives, eating and celebrating with them.
4. Participation in local liturgical celebrations, experiencing the joy and hope of the Tanzanian faithful as it is uniquely expressed in song, dance, and jubilation.
5. Experiencing wildlife in its natural environment on a safari in the Serengeti.

Logistics and costs: The total ground cost is $1,950 + $200 nonrefundable (unless program is cancelled) registration fee per person.
