Support El Salvador's Democracy as an Election Observer

Apply to be an election observer by Friday, January 19, 2024.

El Salvador will be voting for its president and legislators on February 4. Voting will take place in the Central American country and around the world, including in many major United States cities. The organization Center for Exchange and Solidarity (CIS-El Salvador) is training and coordinating election observers to be deployed at as many voting sites as possible. All that is required to become an election observer is:

  • Be a US citizen with a US passport OR Citizen with a Passport of another country that is not El Salvador,
  • Able to be physically present at a voting site in one of the cities where voting will take place on February 4th, election day from 6am to 6pm local time,
  • Have no political party affiliation in El Salvador, and
  • Have a commitment to objectively support free and fair elections!

CIS-El Salvador will hold a mandatory training February 3rd from 8am-11am PST / 11am to 2pm EST. The suggested donation to cover the expenses to cover materials, t-shirt, postage, and coordination is $250, with sliding scale available.

Past observation experience and/or some Spanish are helpful but not required. See the full list of cities around the world where election observers will be needed here.

Fill out the form below and securely send your documentation to electionmission@cis-elsalvador.org. See the following suggestions for safely sending your passport and photo.
