Peace, Social Justice and Integrity of Creation

A message of sympathy and support to the people of NorwayNorway flag

The following message was delivered to the Embassy of Norway
in Washington, D.C.

July 26, 2011
To the people of Norway,
The Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns extends its deepest sympathy to the Norwegian community, which has suffered such a tremendous loss and heartbreak.

Our office strives to promote the beauty and necessity of diversity in all areas in nature and in society. This impetus is rendered more critical now that we know that a fear of multiculturalism drove the perpetrator of the devastating deeds on July 22.

We are humbled by the statements of strength through love that have emerged from Norway over the past few days. We pray for the victims and survivors of the blast and the shooting, and for all of your citizens. May we continue to work together to find a path to sustainable peace, justice and mercy for all.

In peace,

Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns
